Tumkur’s First Fast Track Court judge M S Hegde has sentenced four persons to 15 years imprisonment and Rs 18,000 fine in a case of dowry harassment and subsequent death of the victim.
Background
Pushpalatha of Channapatna was married to Satish alias Ranganath of Kunigal taluk. After the marriage, the accused Ranganatha, Narayanappa, Chandramma and Srinivas began harassing Pushpalatha for dowry. Unable to bear their harassment, Pushpalatha died. Her father had registered a complaint with the police.
Shop robbed
Thieves have made away with 12 mobile phones worth Rs 1 lakh and Rs 20,000 from a shop on the main road in K R Layout. The owner of the shop had closed it as usual at 9 pm.
The thieves had bored a hole in the wall and had made away with the goods.
The theft was discovered by the owner in the morning. Investigation is on.
