Former minister Qamur-Ul-Islam on Tuesday inaugurated the free CET (common entrance test) coaching being conducted by the North-East Teachers' Forum for the students aspiring to appear for the CET to gain admissions to professional courses.
The inaugural function was attended by Noble Education Society President Ms Islam, Forum Honorary President Vasanth Kustagi, Working President M B Ambalgi, B K Chalgeri, M N Attar, B H Puranthagi, Basavaraj Ganure, and others.
Speaking after inaugurating the free coaching classes, Mr Qamur-Ul-Islam said, the free coaching classes being conducted by the forum would be benefiting many poor students. "They could now aspire to join professional courses," he added.
He pointed out that many students who had attended these coaching classes earlier had done well in the CET, and had been able to get merit seats in professional colleges. "The forum was doing a Yeomen's service to the students in this backward region," he added.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Prof B K Chalgeri said, as the forum was selflessly working for the upliftment of the students in the region, it was the duty of one and all to support the forum in its endeavour.
Forum Working President M B Ambalgi dwelt upon the many activities undertaken by the forum. Along with helping the students, the forum was also addressing the many problems being faced by the teaching community, he added. The main reason for conducting these free CET coaching classes was to see that more of the students from this backward region joined professional courses, he said.
Towards this, he said, experienced teachers were being called to coach the students. He said, along with coaching, mock CET would be held for the students on April 25 and 26, and again on May 1 and 2.
He said, considering the activities of the forum, the Noble Education Society had come forward to support the activities of the forum.
