After a 0-5 drubbing in the away tie, city giants East Bengal face an uphill task as they clash with formidable Jordan outfit Al Faisaly in the return AFC group league match here on Wednesday.
With a draw and two defeats in three matches, East Bengal have so far managed only one point in the tourney, and seem headed for an inglorious exit, unless they produce some out-of-the-world performance in the remaining matches.
However, after the setback in Amman, East Bengal would be satisfied with a draw in the Salt Lake stadium game tomorrow.
"We have to start the match targeting a victory. And I feel that we can give them a run for their money if we play intelligently," striker Bhaichung Bhutia said.
"Considering the standard of the Jordan team, I think even a draw tomorrow will be a good result," he said.
But Bhutia claimed that despite losing by such a big margin in Jordan, his team did not play that badly.
East Bengal, who reached the quarterfinal in the previous edition of the tourney, drew their opener 1-1 this time around at home against Mukti Joddha Sansad, Bangladesh, before travelling to Turkmenistan, where they went down 2-3 to Nebitchi FC.
They further queered their pitch when they were battered by Al Faisaly, who have so far gleaned seven points from three matches.
