Ghany does star turn for JSSC

Naveed Ghany (4/50, 70) came up with a good all-round performance to power JS School of Cricket, Sri Lanka to a five-wicket victory over Imitaz Ahmed Cricket Academy in the U-16 cricket tournament.

Brief scores:

IACA: 193 all out in 44 overs (Zeeshan Rasheed 61, Manjunath 48; Naveed Ghany 4-50, Aslam 2-30) lt to JS School of Cricket, Sri Lanka: 195/5 in 35 overs (Naveed Ghany 77, M Indika 77; Nawaz 2-31).

Catholic Club to meet RSI in final

Catholic Club will face Rajendra Sinhji Institute in the final of the 30th B C Ananthasayanam Memorial inter-club handicap billiards tournament on Thursday.

In the semifinals at the KSBA Hall on Monday evening, Catholic Club defeated Koramangala Club 2-1 while RSI had it easy against KSBA ‘A’ 2-0.

Results (semifinals): Catholic Club bt Koramangala Club 2-1 [Wilson (-100) lt to Ashok Kumar (-100) 62-150; D Rajkumar (-500) bt Chandrakumar (-75); Michael Rebello (-225) bt Padmanabha (-75) 150-128].

RSI bt KSBA ‘A’ 2-0 [M Narayana (+25) bt A Satish Kumar (-125) 150-72; Rangarajan (+50) bt Md ARshad (-225)].

Cosmopolitan Club down Century

Cosmopolitan Club defeated Century Club 5-0 in the The Malleswaram Association’s Platinum Jubilee inter-club badminton tournament.

Kedarnath/Gangadhar bt Nagatilak/Ashwin 15-2, 15-4; Sanjay pathi /Ananth pai bt Suresh Raju/Ashish Chabria 15-6, 15-9; Vinay S/Biswas bt Sanjay Dugar/N C Mallikarjun 15-1, 15-2; Sudhakar/Ramanna bt Prasanna/A C Jain 15-5, 15-5; Vijay/Shivaswamy bt Venkat Raman/Nagaraj 15-2, 15-7.

SBM post two victories

State Bank of Mysore (SBM) recorded two convincing victories in the KSCA Group II, Division I league cricket tournament.

SBM scored a 48-run victory over Wheel and Axle Plant before cruising to a nine-wicket victory over DTDC.

Brief scores:

SBM: 259/8 in 50 overs (K N Ramesh 75, Sasi Kumar 58, Nooruddin 50 n.o.; Sandeep Hebbar 6-56) bt WAP: 211/7 in 45 overs (S R Deepu 66, Ramesh 36, Prasanna Patil 34 n.o.; Anand Katti 2-73, K R Kishore 2-26).

DTDC: 113 all out in 33 overs (Sujit 30; B Akhil 4-27, Anand Katti 3-17, Nazinuddin 3-45) lt to SB<: 114/1 in 14 overs (Thilak Naidu 47 n.o., Vijay Kumar 34).

Apoorva, Neha in second round

Apoorva Jagdale and Neha Manjunath posted comfortable victories to enter the second round of the Shivraj memorial State-ranking badminton tournament at the KBA courts on Tuesday.

While Apoorva defeated Rachitha 11-3, 11-0, Neha put out Madhurya 11-2, 11-4.
