Chief Minister N Dharam Singh on Tuesday expressed confidence that the alleged land scam in Bangalore and the related allegations and counter allegations which the coalition partners indulged in, was “no threat” to his government.
He also saw no setback to his government from the High Court order that shot down Bangalore Development Authority’s Arkavathy Layout project. Whatever has to be faced will be faced legally, the chief minister said in an interaction with reporters in Bangalore soon after his return from Delhi.
On slum dwellers’ rally
When his attention was drawn to the proposed rally of slum dwellers to be organised by the JD(S) on April 30, Mr Singh said that as a political party they were free do it, but added “let us see what they have to say”.
Questioned on his silence over JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda’s demand for a CBI probe into the land scam, Mr Singh said it will be looked into. He did not think that people would construe his silence as a wrong signal. On the River Krishna water issue with Andhra Pradesh, Mr Dharam Singh said that an all-party delegation would be taken for a meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh after the latter is through with his tour of Indonesia.
It may be anytime after April 27 or 28, the chief minister said.
