PEOPLE’S PROBLEMS
Scarcity of drinking water

Payment kiosks

The Bescom and other service providing agencies have installed Electronic Payment Kiosks at Kurubarahalli, J C Nagar, West of Chord Road, Shivanhalli, with great fanfare for the benefit of consumers. But here people encounter several problems on a daily basis when the machine does not process the payment completely. Currency notes in different denominations get stuck in the machine. At various instances, the bar coding has not been properly read by the machine causing complications. The people operating these machines during the nights are watchmen or security men who have no knowledge of the machine. Having undergone such difficulties, the customers request the Bescom to spare a technician who is capable of handling the situation.

Pedestrian woes

This letter is in reference to the article that appeared in the ‘Talking Point’ column on January 15, DH Metrolife. Though the financial conditions of the IT/ BT professionals have improved, it has resulted in a decline in the living conditions of the common man. The living conditions may have changed for a microscopic group but many middle class people are still leading a hand to mouth existence. They walk to work and more walking space should be provided by the traffic police, BMP Commissioners, Chief Minister and the Deputy Chief Minister. These government officials and VIPs should walk to their office if they wish to associate with the woes of the average pedestrian.

Bad roads

We would like to bring to your attention the problems that we are facing due to the bad condition of the 1st Main Road, Adarshanagar. The road width is a mere eight feet out of which three feet have been dedicated to the saplings planted on the road (see pic). The roots have damaged the drainage, water connection, storm water drain as well as the road itself. It is extremely difficult to drive any four-wheeler on this road. We have requested the concerned authorities to uproot the trees but they have not done it. They are now planning to concrete the road which could further deteriorate the condition. We request the concerned authorities to take appropriate action.

Drinking water

There is a huge scarcity of corporation drinking water in Somasundrapalya, which has been recently attached with the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike. Due to water scarcity, the residents are depending solely on borewell water and are suffering during the summer season. Moreover, there are no sanitary pipelines in this area. Hence, on the behalf of the residents I appeal to the concerned authorities to do the needful.
