STUDYING ABROAD
Dear Sir,

I am doing my BSc final year. I am planning to do MS in the US, but I hear that a traditional three-year-degree is not allowed. So, should I do a one-year diploma course, in addition? If so what course should I choose? Will I then be eligible? My friends say that even then I won't be eligible because they will prefer B Tech.

Ravi

Dear Ravi,

All universities in USA at present are admitting those who have completed a four-year degree, to their MS programs. Move is there to change this rule and accept three-year Indian degrees. So far they have not made any official announcement. Hence one may have to wait till it is officially announced.

In order to be eligible, doing a diploma from any university as continuation of your field or allied field will help as the stipulated rule is a four-year university education in the same field. More importantly choose the subject in which you want to pursue depending on the subjects you have chosen now. One need not necessarily have a BTech degree.

Dear Sir,

I am doing my Master's in Social Work . I am very interested in pursuing my internship in the field of community development for 45 days broad. What are the opportunities available and also suggest any organisations promoting this kind of internships.

Deepti D,

Bangalore

Dear Deepti,

Unless otherwise sent through an organisation for which one works for, the opportunities for internships is like any other education programmes to be selected form specialised institutions which are exclusively meant for that purpose. Promoting organisations do give you a choice of going as a volunteer or as a student. Most organisations do charge a fee for the services rendered. Browse through the following websites to narrow down the country of your choice and suitable program.
