Tata Teleservices, will spend Rs 3,000 crore in the current fiscal to expand its network in the country as part of which it will aim to reach about 5000 towns.
“We will invest about Rs 3000 crore in 2006-07 to double our network reach in the 20 circles we operate. At present we are in 2500 towns and we want to double it to about 5000 towns by the end of the fiscal,” TTSL Delhi & NCR Region Circle Head Debashis Sur said here.
The Tata group company is also looking at the chances of procuring a National Long Distance Licence.
“We are exploring possibilities of having our own STD network,” Mr Sur said, adding VSNL, whose network TTSL currently uses, already has both NLD and ILD licence.
“We’re talking to VSNL for NLD, but we are yet to come to final decision,” TTSL Head of Operations Planning Rajesh Puri, told reporters in Kolkata.
TataTele launched on Wednesday a new scheme in each of the respective circles it is present, enabling a customer free outgoing call facility to any other Tata Indicom mobile or fixed phone for two years without recharging wihtin that particular state or circle. The facility ‘Don’t stop mobile’ also offers free incoming calls for as many years without recharging. It is suject to a maximum 3600 minutes and subscribers will also be provided with an initial talk time of Rs 10 for calls to other phones. Subscribers are free to recharge with any recharge voucher starting at Rs 50 and use the value till its entire validity period.
