Captured but ill tiger dies in zoo
DH News Service Mysore:
A tiger, which was brought to the Mysore Zoo after it was captured in a coffee estate in Nagarahole forest area, died on Sunday. It was brought to the Zoo at 10.35 am on Sunday by Assistant Conservator of Fo-rests Chakrapani and Range Officer A T Poovaiah.

However, the tiger died even before it was shifted to the Zoo hospital, sources said.

A team of forest officials headed by Dr Nagaraj nabbed the tiger from the coffee estate of one Machinda Thimmaiah in Badaga village near Kutta on Saturday. It was brought to the zoo in the night, but the tiger died, reportedly due to ill health.

It is suspected that the tiger owing to poor health was preying on domesticated animals in the estates instead of going into the forest, the forest officials said.

According to Mysore Zoo Director Ranga Rao, the tiger was taken away as soon as it died.

The Director had received a call to send the animal back immediately and, therefore, no further investigations could be done at the Zoo hospital, he added.
