Truckers suffer heavy losses
DH News Service, Bangalore:
The four-day old truckers' strike that ended on Tuesday has caused huge monetary losses to truck operators and owners alike.

The Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners and Agents Association (FKSLOAA), the main body that had called the stir, has estimated that lorry owners have lost close to Rs 110 crore per day during the stir.

An official from the FKSLOAA said that with over seven lakh trucks staying away from the roads, financial losses were incurred not just by truck operators, but the government as well.

“While truck operators lost around Rs 100 to 110 crore a day, the government too lost crores of rupees in the form of sales tax, commercial tax and VAT revenue.

There are more than 5,45,000 trucks in Karnataka. Each of them fill up a minimum of 300, and a maximum of 1000 litres of diesel. Any halt in movement of trucks means no sale of diesel.
