Modi minus the magic?
DH News Service, Puttur:
It was Modi minus the magic at the BJPs public meeting in Karkala on Sunday. BJP brought Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to recreate the Modi magic that had voters in a spell in Gujarat. However, that did not seem to happen in Karkala.

Though Modi was at his best, not many could understand his speech, delivered in Hindi.
Many were heard saying, “We cannot understand what he is speaking.” That was because his speech was not translated. When Modi asked them if translation was required, a section of the audience said “no”.
However, when Modi shouted, ‘BJP Gendaale’ (Make BJP victorious), in the typical Mangalorean dialect, it became a hit.

Though the Modi hysteria did not grip the audience, the master of ceremonies was found fumbling after his arrival to the extent that he called Modi as ‘Veerendra Modi’.

“Perhaps, organisers were convinced about the problem in communication. In Puttur, former Union minister V Dhananjay Kumar translated Mr Modi’s speech into Tulu.

Pointing at the people gathered on the nearby buildings in Puttur, Modi said in a lighter vein, “They are in the balcony.”

Waving to the people, he said they “appear like the waves of a sea or a cyclone and the evil powers of the State will be washed away in these waves”.
