State Human Rights Commission Justice S R Naik, Kannada Development Authority Chairman Siddalingaiah and folk artiste Sukri Bomma Gowda have been chosen for this year’s Nadoja Award given by Hampi Kannada University.
At a press conference held on Monday, Hampi Kannada University Dr H C Boralingaiah said that the award awards will be given away at the 16th Nudihabba programme to be held on January 5.
Literatteur Shantarasa Homberalu has been a prolific writer in the genres of poetry, prose, novels, drama, research and translation.
Justice Subbaraya Rama Naik has been chosen for his services rendered as judge of the Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka High Courts, and as Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
Siddalingaiah has made invaluable contributions to Kannada literature as a Dalit writer, by making heard the voices of the downtrodden.
Folk artist Sukri Bomma Gowda, belonging to the Halakki -Vokkaliga scheduled tribe, is a conscience of the community. She has contributed immensely to the indigenous culture, and has taken up several causes related to the environment, ban on smoking, etc. She has brought the women of Halakki together.
