Karnataka’s Sagar Manjunath defeated state-mate Rohan Gaonkar 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 to win the boy’s under-16 title in the AITA Talent Series tennis tournament at the KSLTA Stadium here on Friday.
Sagar easily won the first set but Rohan staged a brilliant comeback in the second, pushing the match into a third set.
In the decider, Rohan fought hard but Sagar cashed in on his rival’s unforced errors to come through triumphant.
In the girls’ under-16 final, S P Ritu of Karnataka defeated Preethi Ujjini 6-2, 6-3. Ujjini had beaten Preethi Gokhale in the semifinals on Thursday, but the organisers issued a wrong result.
