Charan, Bharat star for Blues

Charan G Reddy (88) and Bharat Prashanth (67) struck half-centuries to help Canara Blues defeat Jungle Lodges by 163 runs in a league fixture of the Sir M Vishveswaraiah memorial inter-academy (U-17) cricket tournament for the 20-20 Cup in Bangalore on Friday.

Chasing Blues’ 243 for three, Jungle Lodges were restricted to a meagre 80 for eight in their allotted 20 overs.

For the Canara Blues, Likhit picked up three for eight.

Canara Blues: 243/3 in 20 overs (Charan G Reddy 88, Bharat Prashanth 67, Muthu 29 n.o.; Uday 2-39) bt Jungle Lodges: 80/8 in 20 overs (Likhit 3-8). Herons Cricket Club: 222/6 in 20 overs (Vinay 71, Santhosh Gowda 50, Bharat Kondajji 28; Arvind 5-32) bt JPNCA: 171/6 in 20 overs (Arvind 55; Bharat Kondajji 3-18).

Best to meet BCA in final

BCA will lock horns with Best Club in the final of the inter-camp under-16 cricket tournament.

In the semifinals played on Friday, BCA defeated Herons CC by two wickets, while Best Club got the better of Duleep CC by 33 runs.

Brief scores:

Herons CC: 148/8 in 28 overs (Chethan BS 35, Manish Tiwari 25; Skanda 2-27, Nikhil 2-24) lt to BCA: 150/8 in 27.4 overs (Sirish 33, Skanda 29 n.o.; Bala Subramanya 2-32, Santosh 2-23).

Best Club CA: 206/6 in 28 overs (Kishan 48, Vaibhav 57; Vikas 3-31) bt Duleep CC: 173 all out in 25.2 overs (Vikas 33, Akshay Chopra 44, Varun Gowda 25; Kishan 4-33, Vaibhav 2-41).

Gururaghavendra triumphant

Gururaghavendra clinched top honours in the under-16 category in the 94th Children’s Monthly Chess Tournament, while K Srinath finished first in the under-14 section.

JP Nagar Sports Club will conduct an under-10 cricket tournament from May 16 to 18 at the RBI grounds in JP Nagar. The Club is also organising a tennis camp from May 10.
