The XVI Additional Metropolitan Magistrate has issued summons to Ashok Kheny, Managing Director of Nandi Infrastructure Corridor Enterprises (NICE) in a cheque bounce case.
The cheques were reportedly issued on September 24, 2007 to film-maker Indrajit Lankesh for directing two Hindi films, ‘Shaadi Ke After Effects’ and ‘Aishwarya,’ starring Deepika Padukone.
The summons were served on Mr Kheny on May 6. It may be recalled that noted film maker Indrajit Lankesh was issued two cheques of Rs 97,73,400 each on September 24, 2007 (cheque no. 354022) and on October 8, 2007 (cheque no. 354024) on behalf of AKK Entertainment Pvt Ltd, whose proprietor is Ashok Kheny.
The complainant had presented the cheques at Vijaya Bank, Gandhi Bazar branch, for realisation but the cheques were dishonoured for insufficient funds.
Mr Kheny has been asked to appear in person or be represented by his advocate before November 12, 2008, failing which the Magistrate will issue a non-bailable warrant.
