Lion’s share of awards for B’lore DRDO
Bangalore, dhns: DRDO laboratories based in Bangalore region have bagged a major share of the DRDO Technology Awards 2007 for their contribution made during last year.
The Silicon Trophy has been awarded to ADA Bangalore. R Vijay Vittal, ADA, was awarded for path-breaking research and outstanding technology development.
The Agni award for ‘excellence in self-reliance’ has been given to Dr Raju Venkata Narayana, Sc ‘G’ LRDE, and team member S Vijayan Pillai, Sc ‘F’ and team members of NPOL Kochi; DEBEL, Bangalore team headed by Dr V C Padaki, Director and members; RADAR team LRDE, M Shiva Kumar, Sc ‘D’, J Senthil Ranga Rajan, Sc ‘D’.
The DRDO Award for Excellence has been bagged by Dr V B Pillai, Sc ‘F’ NPOL Kochi; DARE, Bangalore, R P Ramalingam, Director with team members, Dr K Maheswara Reddy, Sc ‘F’, Mini Cherian, Sc ‘F’, M Srinivasa Rao, Sc ‘E’, S Sarala, Sc ‘C’; CAIR, Bangalore, Sanjay Burman, Sc ‘G’ with team members - Manimozhi Theodore, Sc ‘F’, Sanjeev Gupta, Sc ‘E’, Philip Abraham, Sc ‘E’, GVK Sasi Rekha, Sc ‘E’. The Scientist of the Year has been awarded to R Srinivasa Rao, Sc ‘G’ ADA Bangalore; Ramachandra Kuloor, Sc ‘G’ LRDE Bangalore; LC Raghavan, Sc ‘F’ CVRDE, Chennai.
Nightingale awards
Bangalore, dhns: Recognition is in store for outstanding nurses and teachers of nursing institutes of the State on Monday as the Florence Nightingale awards will be announced on that day. Dr A T S Giri, president of Florence Nightingale Nurses Welfare Association of Rajajinagar, which is organising the function for the ninth year, said 11 awards will be distributed. “A special prize, for which nurses belonging to the whole of south India are taken into consideration, has been won by Dr Lakshmi Rana of Vinayaka Mission Hospital in Salem,” he said.
