‘No night poll duty for women’
Bangalore, dhns: The Karnataka High Court on Friday said women and senior citizens cannot be asked to stay overnight for poll duty. High Court judge Ravi Malimath made this comment after hearing a petition by Bethany Education Board against BBMP revenue inspectors - Narayanappa and Narasimhalu - in a case related to the inability of some women employees of the Board to participate in the election training programme.
Record number of applications
Bangalore, dhns: Owing to the dip in II PUC results, the Department of the Pre-University Education has recieved a record number of the 7,000 applications for II PUC answer scripts photocopies and 2,000 applications for revaluation and retotalling. The pass percentage of II PUC 2008 examination was down by 8%.
