He was addressing a campaign rally on Saturday for the party candidate Shwetaja Lokesh. He said that since Congress assumed power at the centre, it has lost 10 state elections. With the addition of Karnataka it would be 11.

“The people of Karnataka have closely witnessed the manipulative politics of Deve Gowda and his love for his son. Therefore people will not fall prey to it once again,” he said.

He came down heavily on the Congress as well and said that the party had come to power through the back door and yet had cheated the people of Karnataka.

It is because of this reason that the people are fed up of both the parties and they will teach both the parties a fitting lesson.

BJP’s contribution

“During the BJP rule emphasis was laid on upgrading the rural roads. Four lane roads were being planned. Rs 10 crore was allotted for distant communication. It is our contribution that we have expanded the one Doordashan channel during 50 years of Congress rule to 184 private channel. We expanded the Indian navy, developing of the atomic bomb, increase in the rupee value, decrease in the bank interest rates and uniting about 23 regional parties are all the achievements of BJP,” he said.

Quoting the Congress achievements, he listed farmer suicide, corrupt distribution system, falling prices for the wheat crop, shortage in cooking gas.

He said that when the BJP came to power it would implement the family planning programme on all the religions and castes in the country. He added that when the facilities enjoyed were the same, then the laws should not be different either.

He said it was because of that the nation was now divided and BJP sought to repair this.
