The manifesto promises free health insurance for poor and the needy, free electricity for up to five hectares for farmers, ban on acquisition of fertile, cultivated land for SEZs.
JD(U) National Secretary and Karnataka in-charge Dr Shambu Srivastav, who released the manifesto, promised speedy implementation of the Bangalore Mysore Infrastructure Corridor, setting up of a Commission of Enquiry to probe links between politicians, bureaucrats and mafia lords and instituting legal proceedings before a Fast Track Court, under the supervision of a High Court, against Mafia lords for criminal acts committed by them.
The JD(U) which is contesting from 75 seats in the Assembly elections also promises setting up of farmer's development forum, allocation of Rs 10,000 crore for railway lines to connect Bangalore to all districts in five years.
"Our emphasis is on employment generation and not to announce charity measures to the weaker sections. The JD(U) has for the past four years worked as a true opposition and would continue to function as the peoples watch dog whether in government or opposition," he said.
