While responding to a petition filed by the Bhubaneswar police, the court of the sub-divisional judicial magistrate (SDJM) has also issued a non-bailable warrant against the fleeing gangster.
Armed with the court order, the Bhubaneswar police is now contemplating to attach the properties of the Acharya and, if possible, of his other family members.
“We will serve him 10 to 15 days of notice to surrender and if he failed to that within the stipulated time, other actions like attachment of the properties will be initiated”, a member of the special team of the Bhubaneswar police constituted to nab the criminal said.
However, police sources refused to divulge how many properties the absconding gangster had in his name in Cuttack, his home town or capital Bhubaneswar, his place of operation since his acquittal in another murder case a few years back.
Acharya has been on the run since the sensational murder of Das, the former coach of child marathoner Budhia Singh on the night of April 13.
The police have not been able to nab him despite several raids in different parts of the state as well as in some places outside the state.
Meanwhile, after Leslie Tripathy and senior IAS officer, Priyabrata Patnaik, another album actress Madhusmita and Jubulee Sunderay, a model co-ordinator have also been questioned by the Bhubaneswar police in connection with the Biranchi murder case.
