Sasyakashi of Jainakashi
Moodbidri: Moodbidri, which is known as Jainakashi, has another attraction. At Mijar near Moodbidri on Mangalore road is an attractive garden named Shobhavana, spread over 100 acres. Better known as sasyakashi, this garden has hundreds of medicinal herbs that have been planted precisely as specified in the ancient Ayurvedic texts. Every plant has a board displaying its name in both English and Kannada.
Shobhavana was started ten years ago by Dr M Mohan Alva, president of Alva’s Education Foundation, in memory of his wife late Ms Shobha. The garden is a great source of information, especially for the students of Botany and Ayurveda and hence attracts students from various parts of the State.
