End the apathy towards Ayurvedic Hospital
Sir, The Government Ayurvedic Hospital, functioning near the KSRTC bus terminus in Bangalore, used to be an excellent institution during the erstwhile State of Mysore.
The hospital used to have eminent doctors and dedicated nurses. But, today, this hospital is in a very deplorable state, with filth outside the iron gate and inside it.
There are no toilets nor drinking water facility for the visitors or out-patients. The debris being dumped in the backyard premises release a foul and rotten smell resulting in health hazards.
The main iron gates are corrosioned and rusty. The rusted gates are on the verge of collapse. Also, the public urinate into the gutters adding to the amount of pollution in the premises.
The concerned authorities should look into the issue and ensure that there is much improvement in its conditions and quality of service.

Nehru Loka
Sir, I was very delighted to read the article The Magic of Mysore (DH, May 2). During the fifties, when S Nijalingappa was the Chief Minister of Mysore, there was a proposal to convert the surroundings of Chamundi hills to Nehru Loka. Even after 50 years, it remains a dream though Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) had notified over 680 acres of land at the foot of Chamundi hills. The authorities may reopen the proposal as it would boost the tourism sector.

Kannada channel
Sir, About a month ago, Doordarshan stopped the telecasting of the only Kannada channel Chandana and in its place Chinese and Japanese channels have come up. We get two to three channels in Tamil, Malayalam and Northeast languages. How many people in India understand Chinese to broadcast a Chinese channel at the cost of Kannada? It is a pity that our politicians have not bothered to look into the issue.

Teach the truth
Sir, With reference to Ramayana reloaded (DH, April 20), it was disturbing to find that the epic story of Lord Rama, with its wealth of meaning is being used as a take off for a nonsensical comic, on a mistaken premise of this being nothing more than a mere super hero, a figment of our forefather’ imagination. Several cultures have disappeared by being taught to disbelieve what their elders revered. Our children must be taught our truth.

PM’s promise
Sir, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh had promised to develop Mumbai on the lines of Shanghai, before the last Maharashtra elections.
But, under Congress-NCP rule Mumbai has been voted as one of the dirtiest cities in the world. So much for his promise! Now he is promising to make Bangalore regain its past glory, if Congress is voted to power. Electorate of Bangalore will surely be not carried away by his promise.
