This is not a flea market,” says Namratha, “it’s a young designer’s expo.” Apart from being the organiser, Namratha is a designer who showcases her designs at O-SHOW, which is held on the first Sunday of every month. O-SHOW is into its second month running and the success has people coming here on their lazy sundays to add a little spice to the day.
Jewellery, show pieces, clothes, cushions and fancy footwear are all the items you will find here apart from the environment that lets you relax. Lunch buffet and dessert make it all the more a reason to be there. Designers from all around Bangalore and some even from out of town come to put up their merchandise. Says Yamini who put up her collection at O-SHOW’s, “The crowd responds really well and this is what encourages us to put up our stalls.” Others who had showcased their works were Kedar, Patrick Wilson, Emma, Saguna, One G, Tent, Cross Currents and Psybaba.
The shops here sell some of the most unique items. Psybaba’s hangs jewellery made of animal bones. Says Saher of Psybaba’s, “We are not killing the animals. It’s just that we are putting the bones, left to rot, to use. This is because we discourage the use of plastic.” Patrick Wilson who puts up all kinds of cushions for sale is amazed by the feel of the entire place. Nimboo’s Closet put up displays on the theme ‘white by day, black by night’.
Beside the designer wear and fancy show items, O-SHOW also has handwriting analysts and caricaturists flaunting their talent apart from Shyam the singing numbers of Tom Jones, Neil Diamond, Cliff Richards, Elvis Presley to keep the crowd entertained. Painter Miland Nayak shared his tips with the visitors and Gina showed the crowd how to make their signature cocktails. To top it all, Arun on the decks spun some easy trippy lounge and bringing in the sunset, Goa-style. After 9 pm, Carlton took over hosting the trademark Opus KroaKnights.
The Bizzare Buzzare that stated at 11.30 am continued drawing crowds till 11.30 pm.
