Both Karnataka and the Garden City have suffered a decline in the last four years due to political instability, but Bangalore can regain its past glory if Congress is voted to power, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh said.
Addressing a gathering of select invitees at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall, Singh said Bangalore City whose skills are respected and feared across the world, has suffered from lack of adequate infrastructure. The famous Garden City has overcrowded roads, rising pollution and a congested airport. While this is the case with Bangalore, other cities have been catching up, investing in the future. This needs to be rectified.
“Bangalore needs a new beginning with the infrastructure required to meet its needs and aspirations as India’s knowledge capital. The airport needs an expressway to connect it to the City, the roads needs to be improved and the traffic problem needs to be tackled. Moreover the administrative set up needs to be revamped to match the needs of a global city. Bangalore is a global brand and that is the single biggest reason why India is such a hot investment,” Dr Singh observed.
“We will transform the State and Bangalore. Bangalore will continue to bloom as India’s Garden City and all other cities in karnataka will be given importance to develop,” Dr Singh said. Dr Singh appreciated S M Krishna for leading Bangalore on the IT map of world.
