John Holt: A true teacher  
John Holt was a very keen observer of children and whatever he saw happen in the classroom he would write in his diary. In his first book How Children Fail, he wrote: Most children in school fail. They fail because they are Afraid (A), Bored (B) and Confused (C).
Sailing through the semester system  
The schools under the State Board of Karnataka which were busy heaving a sigh of relief at the announcement that the trimester system has given way to the semester system not very long ago are finding themselves sailing through the semester system with mixed feelings.
Opportunities in research  
Close industrial links, favourable policies by stable governments, a booming economy and an education-oriented atmosphere have largely contributed to the growth of research disciplines in Ireland.
Building life skills  
The International Youth Foundation and the GE Foundation have collaborated together to promote healthy lifestyles, employability and community amelioration for young people.
Taking to the skies  
The Khaja Banda Nawaz College of Engineering in Gulbarga is the only other college in the State to offer aeronautical engineering after the VSM Aerospace and Hindustan Electronics Academy of Bangalore. Students here are also assured of a 100 per cent placement after completion of the course.
