A disciple of Shobha Venkataramani, Anuradha has always been fascinated by rhythm and melody. And her understanding of both these components was evident in her performance at the ADA Rangamandira.
The opening item ‘Alarippu Mishram’ itself saw her becoming one with dance. Next came Ganesha and Shiva Stuthi, that invoked the blessings of Shiva, the lord of dance and that of Ganesha, the remover of obstacles. Set to Adi ‘tala’, it was composed and choreographed by late U S Krishna Rao.
There was ample scope for witnessing Anuradha’s nritya, natya and abhinaya in ‘Varnam Swara-Jati-sarojakshi’ item. Next came ‘Kirtanam-srivenugopala’,a melody on Lord Krishna, composed by Mutthuswamy Dikshidar. ‘Padam-aduvum solluval’ that was also a part of her performance, narrated the expression of divine love. The tempo was slow. This was followed by the famous ‘devaranama’ composed by Sri Purandaradasa, ‘bhagyadha lakshmi...’ Her performance to a composition of Sri Maharajapuram Santhanam came as a fitting end to her maiden show. The dance involved fast footwork and sculpturesque poses. The ‘thilana’ was set to Adi ‘tala’ and Basant Bahaar ‘raga’. Going by her performance, Anuradha is a performer to look out for. Accompanying artistes included Vid Channakeshaviah (vocal), Shobha Venkataramani (Natuvangam), Rangaswamy (Mrudangam), Somanna (violin), Narasimhamurthy (flute), Vid Purushottam (morching). The stage lighting and decoration was done by Krishna. Anuradha has also trained under the famous dance couple of Bangalore, The Kirans’. She has completed her Msc in IT.
