Hooch queen confident of win
By C S Hemanth, DH News Service, Bangalore:
Unlike other ticket aspirants who are keeping their fingers crossed hoping that they would get the 'B' form to contest elections, this candidate has already crowned herself as an MLA.

The ‘hooch’ queen Marimuttu, a JD(S) aspirant from Pulakeshinagar, is confident of victory.

Even before her party could finalise the list of candidates, the former Sagayapuram corporator is out in force campaigning. Deccan Herald on Friday tracked Marimuttu’s campaign through the bylanes of Ward 90, 91, 93, 95 which are the core areas of her constituency.

“I am confident that the JD(S) President H D Deve Gowda and former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy will not let me down,” she stated. Sporting a green sari, which she said is to match her party colours, Marimuttu predicts an easy victory in the coming elections due to the work she has done in these wards over the years.

“The BJP has announced its candidate, while the Congress is yet to decide. But I am confident that the people will elect me as no one knows their problems better than me,”  says Marimuttu.

When asked if the Election Commissions strict norms against lavish campaigning and putting up of banners and posters will affect her fortunes she says that there is no face as familiar as hers in the constituency.

“ Of the total 1.84 lakh voters in the constituency 91, 645 are women and 80 per cent of the population are Tamil. So you know who the winner is,” she said.
