Kolar district which gave gold for adornment for the world has also given golden men of character to the society, Karnataka High Court Judge V Gopala Gowda said here.
Inaugurating the fourth district level advocates conference organised by Malur Taluk Advocates Association at Thirumala Kalayana Mantap on Sunday, he said that just as the district has given nuggets of gold from the depth of its earth, it has given to the society equally valuable persons like poet D V Gundappa, Sir M Visvesvarayya, litterateur Masti Venkatesh Iyengar, advocate Pattabhiraman and Byra Reddy.
He said that the legal profession was a sacred profession necessary for the progress of the nation and change in society.
Justice H N Nagamohan, who spoke on the occasion, said that young advocates should show a keen interest in knowledge, but these days they seem to be more interested in enhancing their earning which is not a good development. In this conference the advocates should discuss more about their internal problems, he added.
Judges N Kumar, A N Venugopal Gowda and A S Boppanna also spoke on the occasion.
Kolar Sessions Judge Chandrashekar, Malur Munsiff Court Judge Srikanth, Karnataka State Bar Council Chairman Shiva Kumar were present among others.
