Devisingh Shekhawat, the low-profile husband of President Pratibha Patil, was the toast of his spouse’s entourage on Sunday as his 74th birthday was celebrated mid-air while flying into the province from Mexico City.
Leading from the front in the celebrations was Mexican Ambassador to India Rogelio Granguillaume who reeled out a spanish song for Shekhawat, a noted educationist and social worker, while the icing on the Spanish cake was another song from Union Minister for Non-conventional Energy Vilasram Muttemwar.
The brief birthday bash for Shekhawat was held onboard the special Air India-001 flight which was taking the President to Guadalajara on the last leg of her four-day visit to this Latin American country.
Ahead of the cake cutting ceremony, the Mexican Ambassador to India, who was accompanying the President on her over-night visit to this central province, sang a birthday song for him.
