Jaggesh supporters stone bus
Tumkur, dhns: Actor Jaggesh’s followers went have been holding a protest in Turuvekere, and there are reports that they stoned a bus in Mayasandra. They have also burned Congress flags in several places in Turvekere.
Later, Jaggesh and his followers took out a massive procession and vented their ire.
Jaggesh is very angry over Congress leadership for “insulting” him by denying the ticket. He claimed that he has been denied ticket by submitting a false report to the high command that he had lost thrice from the constituency. “This is false, because I contested only once - in 2004 elections,” he said.
Jaggesh felt that he has been punished “for not waiting at the door step” of leaders from Tumkur district. Jaggesh said he never wanted to enter politics.
“But leaders like D K Shivakumar forced me to join the party in 2003. They did not keep their promise to make me an MLC. By joining politics, I have wasted my earnings and now they have ditched me like this,” he fumed.
Rebel star to turn rebel candidate?
Mandya, dhns: The release of the Congress list has sparked off a rebellion in the party all over the district.
Former MP G Made Gowda and former legislator L R Shivarame Gowda seem to be at the forefront of this rebellion.
“We will contest as rebel candidates in all constituencies. This list has been prepared without any proper yardstick and the leaders have not shown us the courtesy of explaining to us reasons for leaving us out,” said an irate Shivarame Gowda.
There are indications that former chief minister S M Krishna and MP Ambareesh may step into the ring.
“I will submit my nomination papers for the Srirangapatna seat on April 23,” said Ambareesh. His supporters say Krishna will also contest.
Jalappa miffed with senior leaders
Kolar, dhns: Chikkaballapur MP R L Jalappa is said to be very angry with senior party leaders for not heeding his advice. For instance, Jalappa had recommended the candidature of Subba Reddy from Bagepalli, but the ticket was given to N Sampangi.
Jalappa’s supporters are now pressurising him to resign as Member of Parliament, in protest against the disrespect shown.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, Jalappa said that he would take a decision in a day or two after discussing the issue with Siddaramaiah and other leaders.
Senior party leaders have given tickets to those candidates whom they think fit, but the result of this can only be known after the election, he added.
