State Crop Of “April Fools”
Bangalore, April 1.
Bangalore pressmen today mustered strong at a fashionable city hotel in response to what appeared to be an invitation to a press conference from the representative of a Tata concern. They discussed various problems for long but there was no evidence of an oncoming press conference. Nor did any host turn up. To the chagrin of some and dismay of others, the pressmen realised it was the “All Fool’s Day,” and they were among the first victims.
Banks Asked To Help Industries

Mr H V R Iyengar, Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, held today an informal discussion with the representatives of major Indian and foreign banks about their ability to provide medium-term finance for expanding existing units.

42-Year-Old Litigation

The oldest litigation pending in the State was 42 years old, Chief Justice K Bhimaiah of the Karnataka High Court disclosed at the State-level Judicial Officer’s conference here today.
He felt that the judicial officers were not to be blamed for this long pending case but the attitude of the parties. While five lakh cases were pending in the subordinate courts this number was 1.23 lakhs in the High Court, he said.
