he two greeting covers relating to the flowering trees has the pictures of Jacaranda flowers and Tabebuia flowers in full bloom. While, the Ugadi greeting cover marks the onset of spring and Kannada new year.
“ The two of the covers relate to the multitude of flowering trees in the city and the other one relates to the festival, the new year for Kannadigas,” said Principal Chief Postmaster General Meera Datta at the launch. The card price is Rs 5 and the postage charges is Rs 10. She added that the launch of the greeting cards is an effort by the Postal Department to make posts popular.
The postal mode had lost out to e-mails in the recent times. The greeting covers will be sold in all Head Post Offices and 20 sub post offices.

Sanje Speed Anche or Evening Speed Post, a free and pick up of Speed Post articles for the citizens of Bangalore was also launched. Under this initiative, articles would be delivered upto 6.30 pm and the delivery service will cover 84 post offices in the city. Around 120 postmen are trained and deployed for this new special delivery system which was trial basis for the past two months. The speed postmen would pick up the speed post and other postal articles (except registered articles and money orders) at the doorstep while on duty.
Interested customers can also call the 84 post offices over telephone for free pick up of the speed post articles.
