Now, the issue has landed in court as the private institute, to which the task of operating the training facilities and maintenance was entrusted, petitioning the High Court. A writ petition moved by M/s S C T Institute of Technology, Bangalore, said that the institute had applied for the contract of GFTS’ operation and maintenance.
The State government by an order on March 4, 2008 outsourced the operations for providing technical staff to impart flying training activities for a couple of batches of 18 months’ duration on trial basis, in favour of the institute. Subsequently, an agreement was also entered into on March 10, 2008, the petition said.
Acting on the same, the institute appointed necessary faculty including the Chief Flying Instructor, and also spent on supportive infrastructure. But, all of a sudden in March 10 the State Youth Services department has issued an one-line order withdrawing the March 4 order, the petition said seeking the Court to quash the same. Justice K L Manjunath stayed the operation of the withdrawal order and ordered notices to State Youth and Sports Department Secretary and GFTS Director.
