AXIS Bank, on Monday, reported a 70.56 per cent growth in net profit at Rs 361.40 crore for the quarter ended March 31, 2008, as compared to Rs 211.89 crore in the corresponding period last fiscal.

During this quarter, the bank’s total income increased to Rs 2571.90 crore from Rs 1642.61 crore in the same period last year. The bank posted a net profit of Rs 1,071.03 crore for the year ended March 31, as compared to Rs 659.03 crore in the previous fiscal. Total Income for the year increased to Rs 8,800.80 crore from Rs 5,471.76 crore.

The group posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 1059.14 crore for the year ended March 31, 2008 as compared to Rs 654.25 crore in the previous fiscal. Meanwhile, the Board of AXIS Bank recommended a dividend of Rs 6.00 per share for the year ended March 31, 2008.
