Informed sources in several political parties told Deccan Herald that they would request the presiding officers of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha to end the sittings on April 30 although the two Houses are scheduled to continue business till May 9.
Sources in BJP and Congress, the main rivals in the state politics, said they would request the Speaker in LS and Chairman in RS to adjourn the Houses early to facilitate their leaders to campaign in the state.
According to them, there was not much business left in the two Houses (except for some Bills) since the crucial financial business would end this week.
However, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee’s office said he has received no request from any party or the government for early adjournment of the House.
“There may be talk in political circles but officially, we have received no information,” they added.
In the recent past, Parliament session has been altered because of the state elections.
It happened in the case of Gujarat as well as Uttar Pradesh.
