They are barely a few kilometres away from each other, but in reality the areas located within BTM Layout seem to be miles apart.
The areas located in BTM (Byrasandra, Tavarekere and Madiwala) Layout, which have been carved out of the erstwhile Jayanagar Assembly constituency through delimitation, is a contrast to each other.
If the upmarket Koramangala and BTM is home to IT immigrants and the City’s upper middle class, neighbouring Ejipura and Madiwala houses immigrant labourers and people belonging to economically weaker sections.
While the poor road connectivity and traffic problems (especially the roads connecting Electronic City) tops the list of grievances for the residents of Koramangala and BTM residents.
It’s lack of proper drainage system, drinking water supply and the deteriorating law and order situation that is confronting the residents of Ejipura, Madiwala, Venkatapura and Marutinagar.
Deccan Herald travelled through the length and breadth of the constituency to get a first- hand view. “The infrastructure works taken up by authorities are never completed on time, especially road works,” said S Ravindra, a resident of BTM Layout.
Residents of Ejipura and Madiwala expect their leaders to solve the deteriorating law and order situation.
In Ejipura apart from the crumbling infrastructure and open drains which is in news whenever it rains also expect the law and order situation in the areas to improve.
Congress candidate Ramalinga Reddy and BJP candidate Prasad Reddy , who are contesting from this constituency - which has 2.17 lakh voters - will have to pacify both these contrasting groups to bag their votes.
