Tata Elxsi signs MoU with RV-VLSI design
Tata Group’s embedded technology arm Tata Elxsi, on Wednesday, inked an MOU with RV-VLSI Design Center, part of the RV group of educational institutions promoted by the Rashtreeya Sikshana Samithi Trust, for imparting industry specific training in embedded technology.
Tata Elxsi and RV-VLSI will impart quality domain specific training to new engineering, MSc graduates (in electronics and related branches) and working professionals looking for a career change or skills up gradation. The training program will focus on building a strong foundation for career growth to bridge the present industry academia gap.
Royal Orchid receives heritage tourism award
Royal Orchid Metropole Mysore, a part of Bangalore-based Royal Orchid Hotels chain, on Tuesday was presented the INTACH–SATTE award for best Heritage Hotel in India.
The Hotel was built by Maharaja Krishnaraja Wodiyar of Mysore in the early 20th century, has been restored and renovated by Royal Orchid Hotels Limited in 2004. Speaking about the renovation Chender Baljee said “We are extremely excited and happy to have won this prestigious award. We have taken utmost care while renovating the hotel to preserve the harmony and balance of the heritage structure,” said a release today.
IMTMA to set up testing facility at CMTI, Bangalore
In a bid to further accelerate the technology competitiveness of the Indian machine tool industry, IMTMA is setting up a state of the art testing facility at CMTI (Central Machine Tool institute) in Bangalore. The new facility which will come up immediately will be set up with industry sponsoring the project cost.

CorpBank launches Corp Grameena Vikas Kendra
Reserve Bank of India Deputy Governor V Leeladhar on Wednesday inaugurated the ‘Corp Grameen Vikas Kendra’, the branchless banking initiative of Corporation Bank, at S Nagenahalli village in Dodballapur Taluk near Bangalore.
Talking at the function, Mr Leeladhar complimented the Bank for providing the entire range of baking services at the doorsteps of villagers without visiting the branch. As a part of financial inclusion project, the Bank surveyed nearly 1200 villages and issued about one lac no frill savings account in these villages.
HP’s $800,000 grant for Micro Enterprises
Hewlett-Packard announced on Wednesday that it has awarded ten grants, each worth $80,000, to micro enterprise development agencies in the country. These investments, part of the HP Micro Enterprise Development (MED) Grant Initiative, are dedicated to the advancement of successful entrepreneurs in local communities.
The grant program is part of HP’s long-term community investment strategy to contribute time, knowledge and resources and help the continued social and economic development. The program provides assistance, business training via the HP micro enterprise curriculum and support to entrepreneurs and very small businesses, said a company release.
