He filed the nomination at the Channamannakere BBMP office. Chandrashekar was Bangalore mayor in 2001 and he represented Basavanagudi constituency in the recently dissolved Assembly.
BJP candidate Ravi Subramanya, contesting for the first time, also filed the papers. BSP candidate, a journalist M Vasudevarao Kashyap also filed nomination.
Jayanagar constituency’s BJP candidate B N Vijayakumar was accompanied by BJP MP Ananth Kumar as he waited to sign and submit the nomination form. S K Nataraj and C K Ramamurthy - unsuccessful BJP ticket aspirants, the former having filed nomination form, also accompanied Vijayakumar.
Rebels
K S Samiulla, former corporator to whom the Congress had earlier announced ticket but, denied ‘B’ form in the last moment, filed nominations independently. JD(S) State Working president Syed Shafiulla Sahed filed nominations without the party’s ‘B’ form by noon, although he claimed he would be given it in a shortwhile.
Congress’ official candidate M Suresh and Narayana Raju, the official JD(S) candidate also filed their nominations.

International Wellness Consultant, L A Balakrishna representing Swarna Yuga party, software engineer Anuj Kumar Mishra as Lok Parithran’s candidate; techie Ravi Krishna Reddy - independently; Azgar Rafiuddin as Muslim Democratic Front’s candidate; Javed Ahmed Khan who said he was contesting to protest Congress’ letting down muslims; and two others filed nominations for Jayanagar constituency.
