Architectural designs on display
The School of Architecture, RVCE is holding a two-day annual exhibition on April 26 and 27

The School of Architecture, RVCE is organising a two-day annual exhibition to showcase the skills of its students.  The School believes in the idea that architectural education has to be highly practical and therefore interaction with the profession is of prime importance. In order to provide a forum which will facilitate this interaction, the concept of annual exhibition was conceived in 2007. This year's annual exhibition is scheduled for April 26 and 27 at the School premises from 10 am to 4 pm on both days.

The exhibition will showcase the works of B.Arch and M.Arch (Urban Design) students as well as that of the alumni. In architectural education, the work of a student is reflected not by his or her grade card, but by the portfolio of works done by the student. The exhibition will display the works of students in the main subject of Architectural Design. One can see the evolution of design output, from the first year to the final year thesis project. The exhibits will include drawings, computer printouts and models. The works displayed will include the design outputs of Master's students who specialise in urban design. This course deals with the application of design principles to large scale projects like housing complexes, industrial units, airports etc.

Apart from design exhibits which form the bulk, other exhibits include the works of B.Arch students in the peripheral subjects of building construction, history and theory of architecture, graphics. The alumni's works will also be on display. All the stakeholders in the education process, that is, the parents, students, professional architects, alumni and even the general public are invited to visit the exhibition. The exhibition will be inaugurated by noted architect T M Thomas on April 26 at 9.00 am. Apart from the exhibition, there will be presentation of works by five noted architects of the City namely:  Sanjay Mohe, Prem Chandavarkar,  Soumitro Ghosh and Nisha Mathew Ghosh and  V Tushar. The two-day event will truly be a facilitator of the dialogue between the profession of architecture and education.
