Vindu plays Hanuman in Mere Dost

Dara Singh, having played the role of Hanuman in films like Ramayan and Bajrangbali acquired a deity status himself, with his face symbolising Hanuman’s and was worshipped — such was his popularity as Hanuman. Vindu Dara Singh — chip off the same old block — wants to repeat the magic with the Telugu film Raamdaasu and the string of serials Jai Veer Hanuman, Bhagavatam and Vishnupuran. Vindu is playing Hanuman in Contilo Films' Manikya — directed Maruti Mere Dost. Vindu is very confident of his new role. Vindu Dara Singh says, “It is Hanumanji's blessing on my family that we get opportunity to play Him. Maruti Mere Dost is the story of a Hanuman devotee.’’ It remains to be seen whether Vindu's portrayal of Hanuman turns out to be as successful as that of his father Dara Singh.

Gaurav is a bloody good actor

During the shooting of the B H Tharun Kumar — directed Jack N Jhol, there was a scene between Gaurav Gera and Raj Zutsi, where Raj Zutsi was supposed to push him in a fight. One of the props was an apple with a knife. When pushed Gaurav fell on the apple and with his weight knife went through the apple, cutting Guarav in the process. “Initially Gaurav did not realise that he was hurt. He kept shooting for the sequence. But some unit member spotted red color on his shirt and we realised that it was real blood. We had to call a doctor and eventually cancel the shoot also. In fact when the same sequence was shot few days later, Gaurav first made sure that knife was blunt,” laughs his co-star Aslam Khan. Jack N Jhol is about a boy Jaikishan played by Aslam Khan, who is bungling everything that he does and creates hilarious situations. Jack N Jhol stars Aslam Khan, Nisha Rawal, Gaurav Gera, Tara Sharma, Shruti Seth, Shraddha Nigam, Dilip Thandeshwar, Raj Zutsi, Archana Puran Singh and Anita Hassanandani.

Utterly Butterly Race

‘Race’ is racing along to the top of the box-office charts. The film’s fast cars, handsome hunks, hot babes and rocking soundtrack are the current topic of discussion among the young and the old. So, it comes as no wonder that Amul has decided to use the film poster in its new hoarding. For those who came in late, Amul is known for covering the most topical events through its hoardings for years now. So, all you folks who enjoyed Race, take a dekko at this cute image which shows caricatures of Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Bipasha Basu and Katrina Kaif, all munching on their favourite bread-butter. It does bring a smile to your face and makes you long for a bite of bread-butter too. Business reports have it that Race has garnered a whopping Rs 22 crore net in just three days coming close to Om Shanti Om that had opened to that kind of massive collection.

Saif hits the bull’s eye

Saif has now embedded his royal stamp in Bollywood. Saif has always spelt sophistication and style. And now it is his body of work that speaks realms of his diverse acting talent. Whether it was Ek Haseena Thi, Dil Chahta Hai, Omkara, Being Cyrus, Parineeta, Salaam Namaste, Kal Ho Na Ho, Hum Tum, Parineeta or the recently released Race, Saif has punched his mark successfully. Noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh says, “The industry always spoke of the three Khans when it spoke of star power — Shah Rukh, Aamir and Salman. Then Hrithik Roshan made it to the premium list and also Akshay Kumar. These five actors called the shots, commanded the best fee, while their films fetched incredible prices. Post Race, Saif Ali Khan has joined the club. “Saif's talent was acknowledged long back; the actor has delivered sparkling performances in films earlier but Race has consolidated and cemented his status as a star with tremendous pull.”

Saif is the perfect combination of a stylish star and a versatile actor and has worked with the most diverse set of directors like Sriram Raghvan, to Kunal Kohli to Farhan Akhtar, Pradeep Sarkar to Homi Adajania to Abbas- Mustan. Race, his new release, is his second biggest opener in several international markets, after Kal Ho Na Ho. The actor has just launched his production brand Illuminati Films. A-list directors Shriram Raghvan, Imtiaz Ali and Homi Adjania have been roped in to make films for his banner. In fact Raghvan will soon embark on Agent Vinod that has Saif in the lead. Plus there's Karan Johar's untitled venture with Kareena.  Saif has indeed hit the bulls-eye!
