Fight privatisation of education, says Left
Bangalore, DHNS:
Expressing concern over privatisation of education by the government, the Left parties like Forward Block and Communist Party of India Marxist (CPM) have strongly stressed the need to have representation in the Legislative Assembly to 'fight the injustice'.

Participating in a discussion on ‘Privatisation of State sponsored education,’ organised by the Joint Action Forum of Child Rights Alliances here on Wednesday, Forward Block leader K C Venkatesh said that unless the issue is fought tooth and nail in the Assembly and Parliament, this would cause grave injustice to lakhs of students.

CPM leader Gurushanthu said that his party would fight the injustice, which would lead to bankruptcy of socio-cultural fabric of the Nation.

National Law School of India (NLSIU)  Research Scholar Dr Niranjan Aradhya said that the move by Centre to privatise education would have dangerous consequences on the cultural heritage of India.

``After privatising everything, we presumed that education would be  spared. However, the Centre has decided to sell  education as well,’’ he added.

I do not think the government is competent to handle education. The syllabus of the education boards are decided with some political considerations and lack any practical value. Students have no idea how to use their education in real life and even street kids seem more innovative and capable as compared to educated kids. Home science which is one of the most practical subjects is not taught at all.

It is amusing to see a research scholar on National Law school feels that privatization of education will lead to destruction of cultural heritage of India. This is supported by the left parties. What part of India's cultural heritage public education and communist ideology belong to one wonders. Gurukul which is the foundation of Indian education system is entirely a private initiative; the Indian philosophy in no context removes the 'individual' and substitutes 'State' as Communism seeks to do
