Bangalore, dhns: Kupendra Reddy, Congress candidate from Bommanahalli, is truly a Kubera. He and his family members own property worth Rs 180.25 crore! Undoubtedly he is one of the richest candidates contesting this time. He individually owns property worth Rs 131.23 crore. His wife owns property worth Rs 56.47 crore and one of his dependents possesses property of Rs 58.97 lakh. Kupendra is basically a realtor. He has developed lands for many IT establishments.
According to the affidavit he filed along with his nomination papers he has deposited Rs 1.91 crore in various banks. His total savings amount to Rs 54.92 crore. He possesses commercial building worth Rs 56.47 crore, flats worth Rs 5 crore and non-agriculture land worth Rs 11.81 crore. Believe it or not, despite being so rich Reddy, he has neither a vehicle nor jewellery. However, he owes a debt of Rs 18.52 crore.
His wife R Pushpavathi is also very rich. She possesses jewellery worth Rs 52,84,800, agriculture land worth Rs 16.60 crore, non-agriculture land worth Rs 10.80 crore, commercial complex worth Rs 15.26 crore and flat worth Rs 37.24 lakh. His dependent (name not disclosed in the affidavit) possesses property worth of Rs 58,97,374. It includes Rs 2.36 lakh in cash, bank deposits worth Rs 61,000, bonds and shares in many companies worth Rs 25 lakh, total savings of Rs 24 lakh and jewellry worth Rs 7 lakh.
4 times richer in 4 years!
Congress candidate from Vijayanagar M Krishnappa (popularly known as Layout Krishnappa) is worth over Rs 94 crore. His wealth has surged to almost four times more than it was four years ago, according to the affidavit filed along with his nomination papers on Wednesday.
But Krishnappa has also has stated that his liabilities currently stand at Rs 65 crore. He has Rs 1.52 crore in cash, around Rs 13 crore in the form of shares, debentures and deposits in financial institutions, nearly Rs 10 crore worth jewellery (8.25 kg gold) and Rs 24 crore worth immovable property (mainly land).
Besides, he also owns around 14 vehicles - Lancer, Marutis, Benz, Siera, Montego, Scorpio, Tata Sumo and many others - all worth around Rs 1.6 crore.
Immovable assets: Layout Krishnappa owns 101 acres of agricultural land, and nine acres of non-agricultural land. This apart, he owns several complexes like the Pradeep and Krishna complexes in Moodalapalya, SLN complex on Mysore road, Krishna Priya convention centre on Mysore road, Krishna Kunj Apartments in Attiguppe and others.
He has a total 21 bank accounts, including those in co-operative banks. His wife’s assets are worth Rs 32 crore - including jewellery, immovable property, etc. She owns around 18 acres of agriculture land, and around 60 acres of non-agriculture land.
Cars worth Rs 1 crore
People of Malleswaram and the surrounding areas are unhappy with the government for the inordinate delay in completion of the underpass. Vehicle users passing through Sampige road have been facing a harrowing time every day, since last two years.
Whether there are good roads or not in his constituency, a former Malleswaram MLA has penchant for purchasing vehicles. Name any vehicle, and M R Seetharam has it in his backyard. The vehicles listed in the annexure he has filed before the Election Commission offers these details - he has a Ford Ikon (purchased in December 2001), a Mercedes Benz (June 2001), Prado (June 2001), Toyota Corolla (September 2002), Zen (May 2003), Hyundai Embra (February, 2007), Toyota Harrier (June 2007), and a Toyota Land Cruiser (June 2007) - all worth a sum of Rs 1. 09 crore.
Interestingly in 2004, in papers he had filed before Election Commission (which are available on the EC’s website), he had declared that he had only two vehicles - a Toyota Qualis and a Toyota Prado - worth totally Rs 10. 7 lakh.
But in the papers he submitted on Wednesday, he states that he had purchased five vehicles before 2004.
According to the affidavit filed in 2004, Seethram’s wife Shruthi had jewellery worth Rs 14,31,840. But this the jewellery from her locker seems to have gone missing - the jewellery column is marked nil; but her husband now has jewellery worth Rs 1,23,17,767.
Seetharam has indicated that he has a total bank deposit of Rs 1,01,32,379; total investments of Rs 48,25,19,381; non-agricultural land: property at Cubbon Road (inherited) - Rs 10,14,600; land in Devanahalli - Rs 3,07,50,000; Gokula House (inherited) Rs 22,80,000; industrial sheds on MS Ramaiah road - Rs 84,000; residential & commercial property at Gokula Colony - Rs 53,43,000; residential property at RMV Extension - Rs 1,43,85,943; commercial property at Malleswaram - Rs 64,74,646 and residential property at Malleswaram - Rs 24,84,000. He has taken a loan of Rs 13,28,56,719.
