'State, Centre ignoring farmers' problems'
DH News Service, Pavagada:

In spite of the rapid technological and scientific progress, the tears of the farmers have not been wiped.

Instead the State and the Central governments have adopted anti-farmer policies and have not implemented any schemes benefiting them. This kind of attitude should be given up, said Rashtriya Kisan Sangh general secretary Konche Shivarudrappa.

He was speaking at the Rashtriya Kisan Sangh State-level convention at the SSK Rangamandira, here recently and said both the State and the Centre have been ignoring farmers real problems.

They have not drawn any programmes to alleviate the farmers problems, he alleged and added that in no country in the world have farmers committed suicide.

However, we can thousands of farmers committing suicide in the country  which reflects the policies of the country towards agriculture and farmers. This shows that there are no solutions the government has to prevent farmers suicides, he said.

The elections have come closer and there are promises galore for the farmers. Hence don’t believe any of the parties who are promising things.

Instead the farmers should come together and fight for their rights, he said.

All India general secretary Bhaskar Rao, organising secretary G R Hegde, V Nagabhushan Reddy and others participated in the convention.
