3 NRIs convicted for global fraud
London, pti:
Three Indian-origin businessmen who swindled banks in Britain and the US of more than 300 million pounds by pretending to run a global metal trading empire face a long stay in jail.

Virendra Rastogi, Anand Jain and Gautam Majumdar, former directors of metal trading business RBG Resources, were convicted at London’s Southwark Crown Court.

For six years, Rastogi reportedly conned banks into funding non-existent metal trading deals using 324 fake companies.

‘Right to work’  for Indians in Oz

Thousands of Indians studying in Australia will automatically acquire a “right to work” in the country after the Australian government made changes to the visa system, coming into effect on Saturday.
The changes will make Indian students eligible in part time jobs during their courses. Until now, Indian students had to apply separately for permission to work part time while pursuing their studies.

Concern for Sheikh Hasina

Wife of Tony Blair, Cherie Blair, does not want Bangladesh’s detained former PM Sheikh Hasina to be in a situation similar to Myanmar’s democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi who has been languishing in jail for years. Blair came to Hasina’s trial at a makeshift court in Dhaka and stayed until the end of the day’s hearing. She said she was “concerned” about what will happen to Hasina.
