Sagar enters title round
DH News Service, Bangalore:
Giant-killer Sagar Manjunath powered into the boys' under-18 final of the KIM's AITA Talent Series tennis tournament at the KIM's Tennis Academy here on Thursday.

The Karnataka lad outclassed sixth-seeded State-mate S Karan 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 in the semifinals. In the title clash on Friday, Manjunath will take on State-mate Rashien Samuel, who ousted third-seeded V Sudarshan of Tmail Nadu in the other semifinal in three tough sets. Samuel won 6-3, 6-7 (4-7), 6-3.

The under-14 title clash will also be an all-Karnataka affair. Nikhil Reddy, who ousted top seed Kashyap Ashok 6-3, 2-6, 6-3, will take on Suraj RP. The latter accounted for third-seed Rohit Saravate of Andhra Pradesh, hardly breaking sweat in his 6-1, 6-2 demolition.

Karnataka players had a field day in the girls section too. In the U-18 section, Padma Priya will lock horns with Rachana R Gowda. While Padma scored a tough 7-6 (7-5), 7-5 win over Likitha Devaraj, Rachana came through her semifinal tie with a minimum of fuss against Preeti Ujjini, winning 6-1, 6-1.
