Chirpy, bubbly, peppy... that's Sandalwood's Sakku aka Jennifer Kotwal for you. The Jogi gal is as spirited as she comes across in the Dr Satya... song and establishing a connect with people be it onscreen or off it is a non issue with the lady.
Just mention films and football and you have struck a chord with Jennifer. " I'm enjoying films," she says. And why not when she has a slew of projects lined up. There is Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekh Mudh Mudh Ke with Himesh Reshammiya, a comic role with Ravichandran in Tata Birla and O Manase, a college love story with Dhyan.
While Jennifer is excited about working with "rock star" Himesh, Kannada industry is where she belongs, she feels. "Kannadigas in Mumbai recognise me all thanks to my Sakku Sakku…. Dr Satya songs and of course my performance in Jogi. The industry has given me so much. Also I feel the stories here are special and the industry is more professional," she says.
Any favourites in the industry? "Shivanna is too good. Even if he offers me a passing role, I'll do it. I'm also looking forward to working with Puneeth and Ganesh," she says. But how comfortable is she with Kannada? "Swalpa swalpa barute. But I understand the language completely. I love the language, Bangalore, its Paper Dosa and refreshing people."
Jennifer calls herself a people's person and loves interacting with her fans through her channel on Utube-Sugarwave. "Whenever I have free time I interact through my website or this channel. And there is also football to catch up with," adds the ManU fan. So is it just international football that fascinates her or movies too? "I watch Hollywood movies and would love to act in them with Johnny Depp. Hey! Jennifer-Johnny even sounds nice," she giggles. But off screen is there a man in her life? "Romance? Well any guy who can handle my busy work schedules is fine with me."
Take Five
Dream role: Sridevi's in Chalbaaz.. It has both Indian and Western touch to it. I'm looking forward to doing a double role.
Style mantra: Mix and match. And when in confusion black saves the day.
Success formula: I just do my thing and never try and copy someone. One thing I've learnt is you cannot please everyone.
On TV shows: If I have to do television, it has to be something like Just Mohabbat in which I acted. No pathos for me.
If not an actor you would be: I was fat, had braces and never thought of becoming an actor. But now I cannot think of anything else. I feel I was born to entertain people. I enjoy doing commercials too.
