“Let us not treat men as our enemies. Both men and women are equally inevitable and responsible for the development of the society,” she observed.
Ms Shruthi, who is also a member of the BJP State Election Campaigning Committee, was speaking at a Women’s convention organised by the Mangalore City South unit of BJP Mahila Morcha at Town Hall here on Saturday.
She said women should raise from the status of ‘minority’ to majority, in terms of their opportunities and power. “Either victory or defeat, we ourselves are responsible. If somebody appears to be a cause of failure, it is just a pretext,” she noted, stating the example of her career on silver screen.
Ms Shruthi said it was the respect and care of BJP towards women, that attracted her towards the party.
She did not forget to thank her admirers, because of whose fanfare she could survive in the sandalwood continuously for 17 years.
In her inaugural address, retired lecturer Sharada Ghate said the concept of democracy has not ripen properly in India, where common men do not have a clear understanding of democracy.
She said everybody should forget the issues of caste, religion, race and gender when it comes to the question of the nation. She also called for striving for the victory of a party as a whole but not of an individual.
Mahila Morcha State President Bharathi Shetty presided.
