Senator Barack Obama, who some Democrats say is “inexperienced in foreign affairs”, criticised Republican nominee John McCain for planning to continue the policies of President George W Bush. Obama said Bush’s policies have been “damaging for the US.”
“Senator McCain, as I said, is a war hero and I respect his service to this nation. But he wants to continue a war in Iraq that I think is making us less safe,” Obama said during a campaign stop in Indianapolis.
“McCain wants to start policies that I think will get us in a terrible economic hole,” Obama charged.
According to Obama, the Bush administration is not doing well because of not having dialogues with countries that Washington considers as enemies.
“I’m also disturbed about the evidence that North Korea may have helped Syria build a nuclear weapon.”
“A lot of this activity happened in the background... and that’s why I’ve consistently said it is better for us to speak directly to not just our friends, but to our enemies,” Obama explained.
Ironically, Obama had been criticised by both McCain and Hillary Clinton for not having adequate experience in foreign affairs.
“Your contribution to John McCain campaign today will give us a better tomorrow,” reads an appeal sent by McCain’s supporters. McCain has projected himself as a different kind of a Republican, who is compassionate and would not forget the poor.
