Gritty Digvijay tied fifth
Shanghai, PTI:

A flawless five-under 67 propelled Digvijay Singh to the tied fifth spot, while Jeev Milkha Singh also recovered lost ground with a blemish-free two-under-par 70 in the penultimate round of the $2.3-million BMW Asian Open here on Saturday.

Digvijay, tied 29th overnight, now has a three-day total of three-under-par 213 — six strokes off the pace of leader Ireland’s Darren Clarke (67).

In his best round of the tournament so far, Digvijay struck back-to-back birdies on the seventh and eighth to make the turn two-under.

Jeev lies a shot behind Digvijay at tied ninth.

SSP Chowrasia (72) is the next best-placed Indian on the leaderboard at tied 32nd.

Meanwhile, overnight leader, Holland’s Robert-Jan Derksen took the sole second spot, a shot behind Clarke, after carding a 69 in the penultimate round.

Leading scores (after 54 holes): 207: Darren Clarke (NR, 71, 69, 67); 208: Robert-Jan Derksen (Ned, 70, 69, 69); 209: Robert Dinwiddie (Eng, 70, 73, 66); 211: Lin Wen-tang (Tpe, 71, 71, 69); 213: Digvijay Singh (Ind, 74, 72, 67), Michael Lorenzo-Vera (Fra, 75, 69, 69), Hu Mu (Chn, 73, 69, 71), Peter O’Malley (Aus, 67, 74, 72); 214: David Gleeson (Aus, 73, 73, 68), Francesco Molinari (Ita, 71, 75, 68), Jeev Milkha Singh (Ind, 68, 76, 70), Scott Hend (Aus, 69, 74, 71), Retief Goosen (RSA, 72, 70, 72).

Atwal makes cut
Arjun Atwal survived a late slump to turn in a two-under-par 70 card in the second round and make the cut in the $500,000 Henrico County Open on the Nationwide Tour, reports PTI from Richmond. Atwal was tied for the 57th spot with a total of two-under-par 142.

Meanwhile, overnight leader American Bubba Dickerson shot a four-under 68 to open a formidable four-stroke lead at the top with a total of 14-under 130.

Chopra misses cut
Daniel Chopra's woeful run of form continued as he carded a second successive four-over-par 74 to miss the cut in the $6.4 million Byron Nelson Championship in Dallas, adds PTI.

At the top, Australian Adam Scott opened up a one-stroke lead after turning in a 67 to take his total to five-under-par 135.
