With this, Manjunath, who had announced his resignation as chairman of the party’s parliamentary board, has been pacified.
Manjunath had announced his resignation citing that decisions of the parliamentary board were not being implemented. However he changed his decision soon after his son was assured of the party ticket from Holalkere.
JD(S) supremo H D Deve Gowda held talks with Manjunath and pacified him.
D Manjunath had been contesting from the Hiriyur constituency. After delimitation, the constituency became unreserved. He decided to field two-time ZP member M Jagadeesh from Holalkere (SC) constituency. However, the party local leaders had opposed his candidature from Holalkere. But after consultations with Manjunath, the party has been authorised to decide on the candidate from Holalkere, JD(S) president Merajuddin Patel said.
He called Congress leader Jaffer Sharief, and invited him to join the JD(S). Sharief also had a telephonic conversation with Deve Gowda.
Further talks will be held after Sharief’s return, Patel added.
